Doctors physicians
Physicians are healthcare professionals who are trained to diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries. They typically attend medical school and complete a residency program in order to become licensed to practice medicine. There are many different specialties within the field of medicine, including but not limited to: family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and neurology.
A physician typically begins by taking a patient's medical history and conducting a physical examination, after which they may order lab tests or imaging studies. They will use the information gathered to make a diagnosis, and then develop a treatment plan that may include medications, lifestyle changes, or procedures. In addition to treating patients, physicians may also be involved in research, education, or administration.
There are many different types of physicians, including allopathic physicians (MDs) and osteopathic physicians (DOs). MDs are trained to focus on the biomedical aspects of medicine, while DOs are trained to also consider the body's musculoskeletal system.
In general practice, some physicians work in private offices or group practices, others work in hospitals or clinics, and some do a combination of both. They also in different areas of expertise such as primary care physicians, specialist, surgeon, etc
In addition to traditional in-person appointments, many physicians are also using telemedicine to communicate with patients remotely via phone or video calls.
